Trip To Berlin
8:21 AM
For my spring break, my parents and I are going to Berlin. After traveling for a while, I thought I'd share some of the things that I've forgotten on trips before and really regretted.
1. Lightweight, entertaining book
Often I have what I like to call "down time" on trips. We won't be doing anything and watching foreign TV can get boring after a while. Books are the perfect place filler. It's easy to go on a trip and think you'll be doing something every second. This may be true for some but it's always good to an activity to fill that empty space on trip.
2. Any camera
Personally, I'll be bringing the family DSLR camera (we've had it for over two years and have never learned any functions other than auto, sad I know). Nothings worse than going on a trip and seeing something spectacular and having to say you wished you could take a picture.
3. Sunglasses
There's nothing worse than looking back on pictures from your trip and having squinty eyes in all of your pictures because of the sun. They're so easily forgotten (I am a prime example) and can make your viewing experience of those sunny sights much better.
4. A Travel Guide/Book for your destination
If you're a spontaneous person, you may not like these books. As a planner I like to have an idea of what I want to see before I get there. If I don't, I'll end up seeing far less sights than I would've hoped.
Finally, the most important in my opinion:
5. Comfortable walking shoes!
Traveling is one of my few exceptions where comfort trumps style. I'm a firm believer in if something is cute enough, I'll wear it no matter how comfy it is. It'll be worth it right? Not when you're walking all day. I try to find a happy medium between comfortable and a "I'm-not-a-tourist-I-swear" style. Toms and my boat shoes will definitely be coming with me on my trip to Berlin.
I plan on taking photos while in Berlin and if luck is on my side, I'll try a video! So check back to see about each day of my trip.
