Shirt: Old Navy
Pants: Primark (similar)
It's Memorial Day weekend! My new love, this boat neck shirt, just came in the mail from Old Navy. And may I say it's such a nice quality shirt! Along with all of the cooks outs and parties that go on this weekend, let's not forget our service members. Thank you to the women, men and families that serve our country.
Have a safe weekend!
It is only appropriate that I find the brightest colors to celebrate no school and the oncoming warm weather. Pants aren't even considerable when the weather gets warm, so a dress is the way to go for me. They're also the "cheat" outfit; you don't have to match anything, just choose one and you're good to go! Tobi.com had exactly what I was looking for.
Summer is around the corner and I can taste the school-free air. I am so glad that this school year is finally coming to an end and I can look forward to new things in summer! What are you excited to do this summer?
My first outfit post, yay! I now have a great respect for those bloggers that do this regularly; it's hard! But completely worth it! Weather has been absolutely incredible here (in the 70s, it's almost unheard of in May!) So in honor of the weather, I thought this outfit would be great. The dress also works really well as a beach cover up. The lattice back shows off a cool swimsuit.
Thank you to my lovely photographer/sister Shanice (who's got a killer Pinterest) boards for helping me out with this post. I only have four weeks left of school so time should fly and summer will be here before I know it! Now all I have to do is make it through finals.
With spring arriving and the odd in-between weather, it is time to bring out the fun pants! Patterns and I have a love-hate relationship. If I can find the right one, they're wonderful and make a quick outfit. Making a pair of patterned pants and a plain top one of my go to outfits. It instantly creates an eye catching but put together ensemble. Luckily for me, the "track pant" is really trendy right now. Am I the only one who thinks they're just pajamas in disguise? Not only are they versatile but are out there for many different prices. The first ones I picture are from H&M and super affordable. The tropical print ones however from Zara may not be as easy of a buy.
If you look to your left, in the "Meet Maxine" sidebar, you'll see I've listed myself as a DIY junkie. That is no understatement. Partially have to thank my mom for this knack that I have. She's a "make-it-youself" kind of gal, and thank goodness I didn't get my artistic skill from my dad.
My current obsession of nautical paintings is this four canvas set by Etsy shop Color On the Walls. Talk about cute!
I really love the way that a good painted canvas looks in a room. Currently I have four and soon to be eight hanging on my walls. It's an obsession, I know. The two main places I get inspiration for my art are Etsy and Pinterest. Etsy is great because it's a place filled with handmade things that are often easily recreated. Pinterest is a little more difficult because some of the boards may be called DIY or Crafts, but lets be honest, I don't plan on making my on bookshelf out of crates any time soon. I'm always drawn to a certain theme of painting: the ocean.

Here is my Lilly Pulitzer sailboat print inspired painting (topped of with a sweet monogram). Pretty close right? For the closest replication I looked up other paintings that people had done of this print. The number or sorority paddles painted like this are unlimited so, it wasn't hard for this one.

So from your research you just pick and choose what you want to put into yours! Next, I recreated a Pinterest favorite: the three piece whale.
Hands down the easiest to make and it just looks so clean! Inspiration for this one was easy to come across, it's all over Pinterest;

Anyone notice a recurring theme? Sparkly things. In my opinion you can never have enough bright shiny pieces in your closet. Lately, I've had a habit of liking things I can't have. But, the internet is a great place and I will definitely find some similar items to the ones I'd truly love to have. Through some other fashion blogs, I discovered Accessory Concierge. They're gorgeous jewelry is a little pricey for me right now, but I can see it becoming a store that I'll splurge on every once in a while.
Happy Tuesday!
Maxi skirts or dresses were a trend that I was unsure about when I first saw them. I guess I had my mind closed to the idea that no dresses below the knees otherwise they would make you look shorter. Thank goodness I have been enlightened. I finally cracked and bought both a skirt and a dress and I'm so glad I did.

The one above is similar to the one I bought from Forever 21, which was by the way under 20 bucks! I've seen them worn and they look so simple and put-together.

What was your first impression of maxi dresses?
Hey!
Recently on Pinterest, I've been loving looking at people's home boards. Especially when they have office/desk spaces. I don't have a desk at the moment but it can never hurt to plan ahead!

| {source} So, from my favorite desk pictures, I've gathered a few things that I think I would really like to have in an office-y area: 1. Bright, natural lighting 2. Neutral furniture (reclaimed woods, glass) 3. Pops of color (in rugs, paintings) 4. Bookshelves (I'd book a bookshelf in every room if I could) What would be in your ideal office? |

I didn't expect to be as impressed with Berlin as I was. The sheer amount of history that's there is unreal to me. It's hard to process everything that happened in the exact places where I was walking. We took some tours and the guides shared pretty amazing facts. If you're into history at all, look up some of the buildings in Berlin.
